Learning Maximizers Model
As learning designers we have a lot to think about: learning design, the learning sciences, the performance sciences, technology, tools, budgets, organization context and politics, business models, program goals, staffing, recruitment, project management, and more; not to mention our L&D practices, approaches, models, and methods. We can get lost or ignore key principles and key goals quite easily.
One thing that helps is to have a guiding set of goals for our learning design. I have designed the Learning Maximizers Model for this purpose. It lists eight goals to guide as as we design learning. Certainly, given our circumstances, we might want to add additional goals. But if we design and deliver learning based on these eight goals, we’ll be aligning our work to the learning sciences and guaranteeing ourselves learning designs that are effective.
